The vision of The Hearts of the Father Outdoor Expeditions is to become a trusted, sustainable outdoor resource for boys in foster care, adoption, and hard places—providing consistent access to outdoor experiences, trusted relationships, meaningful challenge, and opportunities to grow.
Our strategy extends beyond individual events.
We are building the capacity, partnerships, infrastructure, leadership, and financial strength necessary to serve boys consistently and sustain the mission for generations.

Maintain a dependable rhythm of camping, fishing, hiking, horsemanship, outdoor skills, service, and adventure that creates opportunities for challenge, accomplishment, connection, and belonging.

Strengthen the equipment, transportation, safety protocols, volunteer training, risk management, and systems required to operate responsibly and consistently.

OUTDOOR ACCESS
Expand reliable access to land, water, trails, and campsites—with the long-term goal of establishing a permanent HOTF outdoor home where boys can return, build traditions, and know they belong.

The mission of The Hearts of the Father Outdoor Expeditions is to create faith-centered, relationship-driven outdoor experiences for boys in foster care, adoption, and hard places.
Through camping, fishing, hiking, horsemanship, outdoor skills, service, and adventure, we create environments where boys can experience challenge, responsibility, accomplishment, belonging, resilience, and trusted relationships.
Our mission is built on four foundations:
FAITH
Our Christian faith shapes how we serve, lead, steward resources, and treat people.
We demonstrate the love of Christ through character, consistency, service, truth, accountability, and presence.
Faith shapes how we show up.
OUTDOORS
The outdoors isn't simply where our programs happen.
It is part of how HOTF works.
Fishing develops patience. Trails introduce challenge. Camping builds responsibility. Horsemanship demands awareness. Outdoor skills create competence.
The outdoors gives boys room to try, struggle, accomplish, connect, and discover they can do difficult things.

Programs create opportunities.
Relationships create lasting impact.
HOTF surrounds boys with screened, trained, consistent adults who establish healthy boundaries, model character, encourage responsibility, and earn trust over time.
We don't force relationships.
We create environments where they can grow.

TRAUMA-INFORMED PRACTICE
We recognize that trauma, instability, loss, and adversity can influence how a boy experiences trust, authority, relationships, and challenge.
That understanding shapes how we structure experiences, train volunteers, establish expectations, and respond to behavior.

A difficult moment does not define a boy.
A diagnosis does not define a boy.
A painful beginning does not determine his future.
HOTF does not provide clinical therapy or residential treatment. We work alongside families, caseworkers, churches, residential programs, child-welfare organizations, and youth-serving professionals by providing something intentionally different:
