About The Long Road Home
The Long Road Home is more than a horseback ride. It is a public act of honor, responsibility, and resolve for children and families touched by foster care. This journey was born from years of walking alongside boys from hard places and witnessing both the quiet victories and the dangerous gaps within the system. In Arkansas, thousands of children move through foster care each year, many experiencing multiple placements, while caseworkers shoulder heavy caseloads and foster families strain to keep going. The why is clear: instability leaves marks, and silence keeps broken systems comfortable.

In April 2026, we will ride on horseback from Northwest Arkansas to the State Capitol to carry stories, not accusations. Letters from foster youth, families, and caseworkers will be delivered alongside proposed amendments designed to strengthen existing foster care laws, improve safety checks, increase transparency, and support those doing the work on the front lines.

This road represents patience, discipline, and showing up when it would be easier not to. Our goal is demanding but necessary: honor the unseen, elevate practical reform, and protect children through clear, actionable policy improvements. Change is built mile by mile, choice by choice, with nothing hidden and nothing wasted. Steady on.
